
Palakkad is a land of palm trees and paddy fields often called as the gateway of Kerala. It’s known to be rich in flora and fauna. It lies at the foot of the gigantic Western ghats on the border of Kerala. The district is gifted with the beauty of virgin and verdant Nelliampathy hills, the precious and unique Silent Valley National Park -one of the biggest rain forests in India, the famous Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Attapady hills and more than half a dozen dams like Malampuzha, Mangalam, Pothundi, Kanjirapuzha, Siruvani and Parambikulam.
The Disttict is also famous for ithe temples and festivals. Kalpathi Chariot Festival, Nenmara Vallangi vela, Manappullik Bhagavathi Temple festival, Mannarkkad Pooram are some of them.
